All pupils in school have access to the extended provision. For pupils with an EHCP, a discussion is held with parents and the SENDCo to determine the best support strategies within the provision. If a pupil requires 1:1 support, additional adults may be assigned, and a risk assessment is produced.
Sitwell Junior School is highly inclusive, ensuring that children with SEND are supported through reasonable adjustments, additional resources and quality-first teaching. For children with an EHCP, we follow the guidance provided in their plan to provide the necessary support.
Staff training has included DSL safeguarding training, food hygiene, first aid and, where necessary, specific SEND training, with school staff working alongside specialists to meet the individual needs of our wraparound care pupils.
Where needed, training is also provided for staff to support pupils who are non-verbal or have speech and language barriers. - Days
