Keppel Ward by-election: 26 January 2023

There will be a by-election for one vacancy in the Keppel ward of Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council on Thursday 26th January.

The Goverment is introducing a requirement to show photographic ID  to vote in polling stations from 4th May 2023.You will not need photo ID to vote in this election.

Key election dates

If you are not registered to vote, the deadline to be registered in time to vote in this election is midnight on Tuesday 10 January 2023.

If you are not already a postal voter and wish to vote by post at this election, we must receive your application by 5pm on Wednesday 11 January 2023. This is also the deadline for us to receive any amendments or cancellations of existing postal or proxy votes.

If you wish to vote by proxy at this election, we must receive your application by 5pm, Wednesday 18 January 2023

If there is more than one candidate, a poll will be held on Thursday 26 January 2023 and polling stations will be open between 7am to 10pm.

Information for postal voters

We must reciev:e completed postal votes by 10pm on polling day,Thursday26th January,otherwise your vote will not be counted.

Due to uncertainty around industrail action by CWU and the impact on postal deliveries, we are offering electors alternative ways to return their postal vote.

Thorpe Hesley Library - Trinity Community Centre, Sough Hall, Thorpe Hesley, Rotherham, S61 2QJ

A ballot box will be will bnbe avaliable for electors to drop off their completed postal vote pack at Thorpe Hesley Library.
The ballot box will be available during library open hours upto and including Tuesday 24th January 2023.On polling day,
Thursday 26th January,postal voters can be handed in at the polling station at the Trininty Community Centre.

  • Monday: 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Tuesday: 9:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 4:30pm
  • Wednesday: Closed
  • Friday: 9:30am to 1:00pm
  • Saturday:9:30am to 12:00pm
  • Sunday: 9:30am to 12:00pm

Riverside House - Main Street, Rotherham, S60 1AE

A Ballot box will be available for electors to drop off their completed postal vote pack at Riverside House reception on
Monday to Friday between 9am and 4pm. COmpleted packs can also be posted in the silver letter box,which is located
by the main entrance doors.

Polling Stations

Electors hand in their completed postal vote pack at any polling station in the ward betwen 7am and 10pm on polling day,
