Protecting yourself and others during hot weather conditions

Extreme heat advice

Please protect yourself and others from the possible health effects of hot weather.

The elderly and those with long-term illnesses are particularly vulnerable to the effects of very hot weather, so it's important to look out for them and keep indoor areas as cool as possible.

Please remember to take care in hot weather:

  • Stay inside if possible
  • Keep your curtains closed
  • Drink plenty of cool fluids to stay hydrated
  • Avoid the sun during the hottest time of the day (11am-3pm)
  • Stay in the shade when outdoors
  • Avoid sunburn by applying sun cream and wearing a hat
  • Do not walk pets during the hottest time of the day (11am-3pm)
  • Do not leave children or animals in the car in any circumstances
