Childminder EYFS Evaluation process

The Early Years and Childcare Service have reviewed the support available to childcare providers and have changed the format of the Childminder EYFS Evaluation and developed a ‘Bitesize’ model.

The Bitesize model includes the following parts:

  • Part 1 – Safeguarding and Welfare Requirements
  • Part 2 – Suitable People
  • Part 3 – Managing Behaviour and SEND
  • Part 4 – Health, Safety and Wellbeing
  • Part 5 – Information and Records
  • Part 6 – Learning and Development
  • Part 7 – Childminder Self Evaluation Tool (against Ofsted grade descriptors followed by a discussion to plan actions for meeting all the criteria with your Childcare Officer.)

Your Childcare Officer will contact you to book in visits.  Part of the initial visit will be to discuss the order in which you want to complete each part, looking at timings of visits and the numbers of visits you feel you will need.  Childcare Officers don’t want to take your time away from the children and therefore shorter more frequent visits may suit you more.

Childminder EYFS Evaluation documents

Additional to the EYFS Evaluation, Childcare Officers can discuss with you how you market your business, discuss key messages for supporting children with SEND and consider promotional materials.

Childcare Officers will continue to facilitate network meetings and review the Early Years training offer to ensure you feel fully supported by our team.

When you receive the call from Ofsted to arrange your inspection please contact your Childcare Officer for support.

If you would like to access support sooner rather than later please contact your Childcare Officer to request a visit.
