Parents

  • Support and Structure: "It gave me time to be able to get on top of housework and stuff but it also gave Dee the chance to be able to go for a few hours and see his mates and almost keep that kind of routine going."
  • Affordability and Access: "The healthy holiday program has been instrumental in increasing access to families and children during the holidays because it's not always affordable to everybody and half has made that possible so my children can engage in activities during the holidays."
  • Healthy Eating and Activity: "Being outdoors we want to give all the students a a fresh set of opportunities experience things they wouldn't experience ordinarily… so there's many many four hours of exercise each day… we're also getting every child one hot meal a day and also a breakfast which they might not get at home."
  • Community and Socialisation: "I think to have the opportunity to provide something a little bit different and bespoke for a certain cohort of children is a really special thing to be able to offer the children… children up to the days which can be lost sometimes through the holidays… they're making new friends and from different communities but we've got children coming from mossborough we've got children coming from kimberworth so it is mixed in the communities and they are actually getting to learn different cultures different languages."

Staff and Providers

  • Positive Impact and Fun: "It's been fantastic with all the kids… the way we run it we run different programs from so we have some doing arts and crafts… the kids are really enjoying it a lot."
  • Supporting Children's Needs: "And as part of all that as well we're ensuring promoting healthy eating and keeping the students active during the summer… also adapting to different scenarios what they might not do in outside during the summer holidays."
  • Community Building and Inclusion: ;"I think the main thing we've had is kids mixing and they get on… they might speak a different language they might might have a different skin called a different religion but when they're in here they're just kids there's nothing to it they're playing pulled together they're playing jenga together."
  • Rewards and Motivation: "You can see they've been really enjoying it they love all the stuff that we've been doing… I was talking to him this morning actually asking him what he was enjoying about everything and he said that he loved being able to play with his mates that are in other classes as well rather than just being in his bubble."

Community

  • Breaking Barriers and Socialization: "they might speak a different language they might might have a different skin colour, a different religion but when they're in here they're just kids there's nothing to it they're playing pulled together they're playing jenga together."
  • Positive Role Model: "It's such an amazing programme to have we're really lucky and bothering to have such opportunities some children might not be able to make our sessions normally due to financial reasons so just having the funding and being able to offer it to children who wouldn't normally access the arts is absolutely amazing."
  • Supporting Families: "The benefits are massive for the families because a lot a lot of the families don't get this opportunity to participate in the activities we've been able to feed them with the nutritional meals but also we've been able to educate them around alternatives on how to stay healthy at home as a family and as individuals."
  • Building Resilience and Confidence: "Seeing their faces light up because like some of them will come in really shy and nervous and then I could like go and sit with them and then like help them like build the confidence and come and play and do drama."
