Chance Group, Change How Adults Notice Young People’s Experiences

About

  • The Chance group is a new youth voice initiative developed by Rotherham Youth Justice Team.
  • The chance group is a fully peer led, child centred initiative. Where young people lead on the group sessions, activities, and project outcomes.
  • The group is made up of young people involved with Rotherham Youth Justice Team.
  • The programme is centred around young people and their lived experiences.
  • The programme is a platform for young people to share their stories, wishes and feelings around services that they have been involved with.
  • The group meet weekly to improve services that they have been involved with.
  • The group work together to improve services such as The Police, Schools and Social Care
  • In the Chance group our young people can go on trips, residentials and attend fun events.

Our Aims

  • To empower young people to make differences in their lives and the lives of other young people.
  • To enable young people who are in contact with Rotherham Youth Justice team the opportunity to shape services that they are involved with or have been involved with.
  • Listen and support young people to have their stories, wishes and feelings heard to make a real difference and improvement to service delivery and service practices.
  • To give young people an opportunity to develop individual confidence and self-esteem.
  • To enable young people to develop positive relationships with peers and their support workers.
  • The group will contribute to individuals personal social and emotional development
