What information will I need to provide?

To qualify for the Energy Crisis Support Scheme, applicants will be asked to provide some basic information about their current financial situation, along with a recent bank statement where relevant, their most recent energy bill and estimated monthly expenditure and income. Applicants will also be given the opportunity to evidence how they have been financially affected by the energy and cost of living increase, which can be done through text or a document upload.

To calculate monthly expenditure, applicants will be asked to provide monthly cost estimates for the following:

  • Housing costs
  • Utility bills
  • Vehicle costs
  • Living costs

To calculate income, applicants will be asked to provide monthly estimates for the following:

  • Income from wages
  • Income from benefits
  • Income from pensions

Additionally, applicants will be asked to provide average monthly debt payments, average monthly court / legal payments, and the total amount your household has in savings.

To ensure payment can be made to applicants, the application will also ask for the name of the applicant's bank, bank sort code and bank account number.

Applications are assessed by specialist Council staff who can also offer advice on welfare benefit, training schemes or referrals to other relevant services, depending on the applicant’s circumstances.
