Consequences of Housing Fraud

For those found to have committed Housing Fraud, the consequences can be severe.

Possible consequences of Housing Fraud: 

  • Your tenancy may be terminated
  • You may be restricted from the social housing register
  • You may receive a fine of up to £5000
  • You have be given a custodial sentence, of up to 10 years
  • The court may make an Unlawful Profit Order to take back any profits made from fraudulent activity
  • A court may make a confiscation order if you have been found to have financially benefited from Housing Fraud
