Requesting adaptations to your home
If you would like to make adaptations to your home, some works will need to have an Occupational Therapy assessment to make sure you are eligible.
Following the assessment the Occupational Therapist may issue you some equipment or recommend minor adaptations to your home such as grab rails, or hand rails. They may also recommend major adaptations such as ramped access, level access shower or a stair lift.
Please note that if you live in a Council property and the access height is over 800mm or the property is under-occupied, we will look into rehousing for you before considering major adaptations.
You can request up to 3 of the below minor fixings directly without an assessment by contacting the Council’s repairs team on 01709 336009
• Grab rails
• Key safes
• Lever tap adjusters
• Wooden stair rails
For any other adaptation works you can arrange to book an Occupational Therapist assessment by contacting Adult Social Care on 01709 822330 or alternatively by completing the form on the link below.
