Adaptations to your home
You will be assessed by the Occupational Therapy team to establish whether you are eligible for adaptations to your home. These could be basic adaptations, such as installing grab rails, or major adaptations, such as ramps, level access showers and stairlifts.
If you are a Council tenant and you are assessed as eligible, there will be no cost to you.
If you are a homeowner, a housing association tenant, or if you privately rent your home, you may qualify for a means-tested Disabled Facilities Grants: Overview - GOV.UK towards the cost of major adaptations. The Occupational Therapy team will explain how this works. If you apply for this grant, you must not start any work before your application has been approved. Payment cannot be made for any work that has already started.
