Towns and Villages Fund: Anston and Woodsetts Ward

Site Selected

It is proposed that this scheme will make public realm improvements to the shopping area on Quarry Lane and improve the green space off The Baulk and between Nursery Road and Nursery Crescent.

Current Site Issues

The area around the shops has been chosen as it is considered that it would benefit from general upgrades to the public realm to improve the overall appearance for local residents, businesses and visitors to the area.

The green spaces selected as part of the project are an asset to the local area, but improvements could uplift the appearance and give purpose to the areas for local residents.

Details of the Proposal

Following pre-design consultation, the below concept design has been developed which looks to enhance the public realm throughout the area.

The proposal includes improvements to the area outside the shops, including resurfacing, replacement railings, bollards and the provision of a new raised planting bed with soft landscaping.

It is proposed to enhance the green spaces with perennial planting, successional bulb planting, a new footpath, seat and the planting of a living Christmas tree.
