Towns and Villages Fund: Dalton and Thrybergh Ward

Site Selected

Land adjacent to Ridgeway Convenience Store (No. 25-35 Ridgeway)

This scheme sought to improve an existing under-utilised green space to the front of a convenience store (No. 25-35 Ridgeway).

Identified Site Issues

The green space was considered to have a lack of purpose. Boundary walls and steps at the site were eroded and damaged in places. This gave the area a neglected appearance.

Details of Proposal

The scheme sought to provide a new community garden space with seating area, trees and planting. Repair and refurbishment of walls and steps was also proposed and enhancement of paving to the shop frontage.

The scheme provided a space where the local community could come together, contributing towards an improvement of health and wellbeing of local residents and creating a cleaner and tidier appearance. This met two of the Dalton and Thrybergh ward priorities.
