This June we are running lots of fun events across Rotherham.

Highlights

Armed Forces Day

Armed Forces Day will be taking place on Saturday 22 June from 10am to 4pm in Rotherham Town Centre.

Rotherham will come together to thank all members of Armed Forces past and present for their service to our country.

This year’s event will include a military parade, speeches, cadet displays, entertainment, and more.

This event is led by Rotherham Council.

Regular events take place on many Saturdays in Rotherham Town Centre.

Rotherham Civic Theatre - The Battle of Orgreave

Rotherham Civic Theatre has lots of exciting performances coming up this June, including The Battle of Orgreave.

The Battle of Orgreave: An Evening with Jeremy Deller:

Join Turner prize-winning artist for a special screening of The Battle of Orgreave on Wednesday 12 June at 6pm.

Jeremy produced a re-enactment of The Battle of Orgreave, the clash between Police and miners that unfolded in 1984. Following the viewing, there will be a Question and Answers section about the film chaired by Auriel Majumdar, Chair of FLUX Rotherham consortium.

Jeremy will be available from 5:30pm to 6pm for book signing with his new book ‘Art is Magic’.

This event is organised by Rotherham Museums, Arts and Heritage and Rotherham Theatres.

Parkruns

Rother Valley parkrun in Rother Valley Country Park and the Rotherham parkrun in Clifton Park usually take place on Saturday's at 9am.

Please note that these are not Council run events but led by volunteers.

  • Duathlon and Triathlon organised by Wild Deer Events on Sunday 23 June arriving at 7am in time for the start at 8am at Rother Valley Country Park. Find out more here.
  • Colour Powder Run for Pride Month on Saturday 29 June from 11am at Rother Valley Country Park, Northern Lake. This event is to support the LGBTQ+ community and is organised by Sheffield United Community. Register here or find out more information here.

  • Days of Laughter, Days of Pain: The Miners’ Strike in Rotherham, 1984 to 1985 exhibition at Clifton Park Museum is now open until Sunday 30 June 2024. Find out more here.

Rotherham Libraries

Rotherham Libraries host regular weekly activities across the borough such as: Lego clubs, Rhymetimes, computer classes, knit and natter groups, advice sessions, craft sessions, readers groups and local history groups.
