Rotherham students celebrate A Level results day

Students from schools and colleges across Rotherham have performed well in A Level results published today, 15 August 2024.

According to early analysis of available data, local students have achieved a pass rate of 97.7% (grades A* to E). This is up 1.3% on last year’s figure for Rotherham.

Councillor Victoria Cusworth, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People at Rotherham Council, said: “It’s very positive to see that a number of young people across Rotherham have achieved strong A Level, T-level, BTec Nationals results. And it’s great that they can now celebrate their hard work and fantastic achievements.”

Around 2775 local students have received their A level results and 4263 students have got results for A level or A level equivalent qualifications. Rotherham’s overall pass rate (students achieving A*- E Grades) stands at 98.2% (for A Level & equivalent) which is up 0.9% on last year’s figure.

Nationally the number of students achieving A*- E Grades (Pass rate) has not yet been released but Ofqual expects national results in 2024 to be broadly similar to those seen in 2023, bringing grades back in line with 2019 levels.

Nationally (England) the number of students achieving A*- C has been reported on the Schools Week website as being 76.0%, up from 75.4% last year and 75.5% in 2019. Rotherham’s A*- C achievements stand at 70.6% which is an increase of 1.8% from last year.

The number of students achieving A* to A grades in Rotherham is 19%. This is an increase of 2% on last year.
