Rotherham Council proudly joins the national celebration of Volunteers’ Week, shining a spotlight on the incredible individuals who selflessly give their time to uplift and support our community.
From offering companionship to children in care to supporting older residents and running vital community programs, volunteers are the heartbeat of Rotherham. Our Independent Volunteers provide consistent, caring visits to children in care, bringing joy, stability, and a sense of belonging to young lives.
The Council works hand-in-hand with valued partners including Voluntary Action Rotherham (VAR), RotherFed, and Age UK Rotherham, ensuring that residents across the borough receive the support they need.
Rotherham Council’s Deputy Leader, Cllr Cusworth, said: “Volunteers are truly the unsung heroes of our community. Their compassion and commitment are what makes Rotherham a stronger and more connected place to live. We are deeply grateful for everything they do.”
Volunteering not only transforms the lives of those receiving support, but it also enriches the lives of those who offer their time to support great causes. It creates purpose, allows for people to become more connected, and enables personal growth. The annual Volunteer Celebration Event will also take place during Volunteers’ Week, on Tuesday 3 June 2025, 1pm to 3:30pm at Rotherham Minster in the town centre. The event will celebrate volunteers in Rotherham, and encourage people to ‘Give It A Go’ and try some fun activities on the day.
