
Over 3,345 students have collected their GCSE results in Rotherham, with 60.0% achieving a passing grade in Maths and English.
Students across Rotherham’s 16 secondary schools waited in anticipation to receive their GCSE results today, 21 August.
GCSE English
70.3% of Rotherham students achieved a grade 4 (pass) or higher in English, with 55.2% achieving grade 5 or above. Nationally, the English grade 4 pass rate stands at 70.6%.
GCSE Maths
66.3% of Rotherham students achieved a grade 4 (pass) or higher in Maths, with 45.8% achieving grade 5 or above.
GCSE English and Maths
60.0% of Rotherham students achieved grade 4 or higher in both English and Maths, with 39.9% achieving grade 5 or above.
Students will have studied a broad curriculum which includes core subjects such as English and Maths, as well as other subjects such as Sciences, ICT, History, Geography, PE, RE, and creative arts. Students usually study 10 subjects, some being subjects they’ve elected to study, leading to them achieving an average of 10 GCSEs.

Congratulations to all our young people as well as the teachers, parents, and everyone who has played a part in supporting students to achieve their best.
“GCSEs provide a vital academic foundation for young people across Rotherham, helping them to pursue their goals, whether that’s progressing to college, sixth form, or starting an apprenticeship.
“Our schools and colleges continue to support and inspire students to reach their full potential. I wish all the students collecting their results today the best for their future, whatever options and challenges they decided to take on.”
