Rotherham Libraries are helping to spread the Christmas cheer this year by being an official drop-off point for the borough’s annual Christmas Toy Appeal!
With the cost-of-living crisis continuing and more families sadly finding themselves in need, Christmas 2025 will be another challenging year for many. Without help, some local children may wake up on Christmas morning without a gift.
Residents can now help to bring a sprinkle of Christmas joy to local children and young people who might otherwise go without by getting involved today.
Giving Trees are now in place at libraries across the borough, including Riverside House. Each tree has tags showing the age of a child in need. All you need to do to get involved is take a tag, buy a suitable gift of up to £20, and return it unwrapped to any designated drop-off point.
All gifts will then be handed over to the appeal organisers so they can deliver presents on behalf of Santa himself.
Cllr Victoria Cusworth, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said:
“By hosting Giving Trees, our libraries are helping to make it easier for residents to take part and ensure that more children receive a gift this year that may otherwise have gone without. We encourage everyone who can to support the appeal and help us reach even more children this Christmas.”
Hosted by Families First Rotherham, the annual Christmas Toy Appeal aims to bring festive cheer to families. Last year, more than 2,000 children and young people in Rotherham received gifts through the appeal.
Rotherham Libraries have supported the appeal for several years, providing hundreds of gifts from residents across the borough.
