Restrictions at Rotherham Council’s Household Waste Recycling Centres are changing from Monday 17 May to allow more visitors on site and help reduce queuing times.
Since last year the number of vehicles allowed to unload at the sites has been significantly reduced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Traffic management has been in place to prevent the risk of queuing traffic causing a safety issue to the roads outside the sites.
From today (Monday 17th May) up to 30 people will be allowed on sites at once and visitors to the centres will be encouraged to wear face coverings and maintain social distancing while unloading their waste.
Tom Smith, Rotherham Council’s Assistant Director, Community Safety and Street Scene, said: “As more of society starts to open up across the country we are pleased to be able to allow more people to visit our Household Waste Recycling Centres across the borough.
“These changes will make it easier for people to visit the centres and dispose of their rubbish appropriately. We are still expecting sites to be busy and continue to ask people to be patient and treat each other and our staff with respect.”
All sites are open 7 days a week, 10am to 6.30pm with last entry 15 minutes before closing.
