Welcome back to a new look Kiveton Park Library

Kiveton Park Library relaunch, 28th October, mini makers, suitcase stories, halloween crafts

Kiveton Park Library are to hold a relaunch event this week following extensive refurbishment of the building and it’s facilities.

The library received over £200,000 investment to create a Community Hub, housing both the Library Service and the Council’s Early Help Team.

The building received a full refurbishment including; new library furniture and shelving, a new meeting room, public toilet and a fully equipped catering style kitchen.

The improvements are part of Rotherham Council’s Libraries Capital Improvement Programme, a £1.8 million improvement package for all 15 libraries across Rotherham.

Following the revamp, the IT offer has also been upgraded with a redesigned IT and study space including new I.T. equipment to allow further opportunity for people to come together and learn and socialise with others in the local community.

To celebrate, the library is hosting a variety of children’s events and activities throughout the day on Thursday 28 October including:

  • 10-11am: Mini Makers Session, for ages 6 – 10 years
  • 10:30am – 11:15am: Performance by Tell Tale Children’s Theatre Company - Suitcase Stories, for ages 3–7 years
  • 11:30am – 12:30pm: Mini Makers Session, for ages 6 – 10 years
  • 12pm – 12:45pm: Performance by Tell Tale Children’s Theatre Company - Suitcase Stories, For ages 3–7 years
  •  2:30pm – 3:15pm: Performance by Tell Tale Children’s Theatre Company for ages 3–7 years.
  • 3:30pm – 5.30pm: A variety of Halloween craft activities including cup cake decorating, pumpkin painting and colouring for ages 10+ years.

Rotherham Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Inclusion, Councillor David Sheppard said: “It’s great to see the work that is being carried out to improve libraries across Rotherham. Libraries are an integral part of our neighbourhoods and it’s important that we create a library service that is responsive to community needs across the borough.

“The relaunch of Kiveton Park library looks like it will be a great event with lots of wonderful activities on offer for the local children and young people to enjoy.”
