Over a hundred adult learners and their families attended an annual awards and celebration event at Rotherham Civic Theatre, with special guest presenter Howard Webb, MBE.

The former professional football referee, congratulated each of the adult learners and presented their awards and certificates whilst posing for photographs.

The event, which was hosted by Rotherham Council’s Adult Community Learning team, is held in recognition of the hard work and effort put in by all the adult learners across a number of award categories.

Maherun Choudhury, Development Officer at Rotherham Council, organised the event and commented, "Howard gave an inspirational speech and told everyone not to give up but to persevere and follow their dreams, as in the end you always succeed. He said that he never would have got to where he is now if he had given up at the first hurdle."

Awards were presented to the following adult learners:

  • Creative Art: Zoe Green
  • Creative Writing: Emily Barlow
  • Learner Volunteer of the Year: Faye Holmes
  • Human Resource of the Year: Sofia Sabir
