The MUGA was funded by Rotherham Council, the Football Foundation, and Veolia Environmental Trust. A total of £125,000 was secured to deliver this exciting project for the local area.

This project was developed through engagement with young people in the local area, who told us that they wanted to see a MUGA. Since opening last year, the MUGA is proving to be extremely popular and is well-used day and night, particularly on weekends.

Councillor Sarah Allen said: “We listened to young people who told us what they would like to see in their local area. The Council, through working together with partners were able to secure a significant amount of funding to bring this project to life.

“The MUGA has proved to be popular and well-used since it opened last year. To celebrate this successful project, a fete is taking place on Saturday.

“A wide range of free, family-friendly events and activities are taking place. I would like to encourage residents to come along to the Greasbrough Recreation Ground on Saturday for what promises to be a fun-filled day.”

Councillor Rob Elliott added: “We are looking forward to celebrating the first anniversary of the MUGA in Greasbrough.

“Supporting activities for young people in the community is one of our top ward priorities. It’s been pleasing to see so many people use the MUGA since it opened last year. The MUGA project is an example of how we are delivering on our ward priorities for residents in the local area.”
