The countdown to Healthy Holidays is on

There’s not long left until the start of the Healthy Holidays summer activities programme and there are free places still available for eligible children, so make sure your child does not miss out.

Over the summer holidays, the programme will offer a variety of activities for school children to take part in, including sports, dance, arts and crafts, and swimming sessions. Limited free places are available for children who receive benefits-related free school meals.

The sessions are designed to help children learn how a healthy lifestyle can benefit them whilst having fun.

Rotherham’s Cabinet Member for Children’s and Young People’s Services, Cllr Victoria Cusworth, said: “Healthy Holidays is a fantastic opportunity for children to get active and make new friends while doing fun activities. After the success of the Easter Holidays programme, I am very happy to see providers offering more activities throughout the summer to keep our young people entertained. I encourage you to look at the sessions available and book a place as soon as you can.”

Becky from Healthy Holidays provider, Triple Threat Theatre Company, said: “It’s such an amazing programme to have, we’re really lucky to have in Rotherham such opportunities. Some children may not be able to attend our sessions normally due to financial reasons so just having the funding and being able to offer it to children who wouldn’t usually access the arts is absolutely amazing. It brings on their confidence amazingly and the free meals is just a bonus.”

Make sure your child does not miss out, book their place with your chosen provider now! Find out more on the Rotherham Council website.
