After receiving a number of reports of dog fouling around Bramley Sunnyside and Flanderwell schools, Councillors and the Neighbourhoods team reached out to seek help from local school children.
In the Spring a number of reports of dog fouling in areas surrounding Bramley Sunnyside Junior and Infant schools and Flanderwell Primary School were made by members of the community.
In a joint effort to tackle dog fouling and reach out to dog owners, we teamed up with the affected schools and ran a poster competition with the children.
We had a brilliant response, with well over 200 entries. Councillors Sue Ellis, Emma Hoddinott and Chris Read certainly had a difficult job selecting the winning designs!
The winner and runner-up in each school were presented with a book voucher and the winning designs are currently being made into composite signs that will be installed around the schools and nearby paths and pavements.
The winners and runners-up were:
- Olivia & Millie from Bramley Sunnyside Junior School
- Antonia & Roman from Bramley Sunnyside Infant School
- Scarlett, Robyn, Kladija & Aleeza from Flanderwell Primary School
We'd like to say a big thank you to all the staff at each school for encouraging the children and young people to take part and we'd like to thank responsible dog owners for continually doing your bit, by picking up after your pet.
But, most of all, we'd like to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to every child who designed a poster and supported this campaign - you did a wonderful job!!
If dog fouling is a concern in your area, you can report it via this online form.
