Supporting Rotherham Councils plans are two Host City Supporters, RNN College and FLUX Rotherham, who will be hosting activations within the fan parties.
Jason Austin, Principal and CEO of RNN Group, said: “The RNN Group and two of its three colleges, Rotherham College and Dearne Valley College, are very proud to be supporting Rotherham Council in their Fan Parties as a Host City Supporter for the UEFA Women’s Euro football matches throughout July.
“The community of Rotherham is very important to the RNN Group: as an education provider, working with a number of local employers, and as an employer ourselves of around 1000 people we are excited to be able to take part and look forward to welcoming members of our local community to our stand to enjoy the activities we will have on offer before each game.”
Helen Jones, Director of FLUX Rotherham, said: “Being a host city supporter to Rotherham Council as one of the host cities for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 tournament, is a real honour. We’re really looking forward to welcoming fans from all over Europe to our wonderful town centre and sharing the hopes, ambitions and talents of local women and girls through artworks and creative workshops.
“We’re thrilled to have been able to work with groups of women and girls across Rotherham, to design artworks which will feature on giant banners as part of the fanzone. Representing Rotherham’s rich cultural diversity, verdant green spaces and recognisable landmarks and histories, all taking inspiration from the emotive poem ‘Our Rotherham’, written by Vicky Morris and Rotherham Young Writers. Excerpts from the poem will be printed large scale and form part of a poetry trail through the town centre.”
Matchdays won’t be the only chance for fans to experience the atmosphere of the tournament. Throughout July the UEFA Women’s EURO 2022 events programme will host a range of arts, heritage and music activities all inspired by the record-breaking tournament.
