Tackling ASB in the Rotherham East Ward

Asb awareness week 1

This week is Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week. The Council is playing an important role across the Borough tackling ASB and helping to keep our communities safe.

Addressing ASB is a ward priority for Ward Councillors in the Rotherham East Ward.

Measures have been taken around this issue.

Recently, the Council made the decision to close an alleyway on Eldon Road in Eastwood following concerns around fly-tipping, crime, and ASB. Before closing the alleyway, a formal consultation was carried out and residents were invited to an on-site event. From the consultation process, residents were supportive of the proposals to close the alleyway. Further engagement with residents will be carried out and this will help to ensure we make the best use of the space going forward.

The Neighbourhoods Team at the Council has also been working closely with partners including Rotherfed, South Yorkshire Police, as well as other teams within the Council to tackle ASB taking place at Springwell Gardens. Within this area new CCTV is set to be installed to improve safety.

In addition, funding from the Housing Hub budget has been allocated to install CCTV at Larch Mews.

Reporting crime and ASB

Reporting crime and ASB is important, the information you give not only allows the Police and partners to investigate and take action, but it can lead to extra funding and resources being given to your local area.

All incidents reported to the Police are logged and analysed. If patterns or high incidents of reports are found, extra resources to tackle the issue can be given.

If you are experiencing crime or anti-social behaviour and require emergency assistance, then please contact the Police on 999. For cases which are not an emergency, then please report ASB at: Report Anti-Social Behaviour – Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council
