What's on this August

It’s nearly August and there are lots of fun events taking place across Rotherham.

This month, the Jet Ski Championships visit Rother Valley Country Park on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August, 10am to 5pm.

Lots of fun Summer Reading Challenge events are taking place at Rotherham Libraries, you can join in the Gadgeteers, Marble Run, or make a Wind Cone and there's also Yorkshire Day themed activities too.

Football fever continues on from Rotherham hosting the UEFA Women's EURO 2022 tournament. Football fans have until the end of the summer to visit the Rotherham United’s ‘Ambitious but Brilliant’ exhibition charting the history of the club and its fans, in the New York Stadium.

Events include:

  • From Friday 1 July until the end of the summer, Monday to Friday: 10am to 12pm and 4pm to 7pm, Saturday: 10am to 1pm, (The exhibition will be open 5.30pm to 7pm on Rotherham United fixtures throughout August). Rotherham United’s ‘Ambitious but Brilliant’ exhibition charting the history of the club and its fans, New York Stadium
  • From now until Sunday 9 October 2022, exhibition open during opening hours. Rotherham UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 presents - Grass Roots To Glory: "Our Story So Far" at Clifton Park Museum. The new exhibition charts the story of the heritage of women’s football across Rotherham
  • Saturday 6, 13, 20 and 27 August, 9am, Rotherham parkrun, Clifton Park
  • Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 August, 10am to 5pm, Jet Ski Championships, Rother Valley Country Park Main Lake (from the island towards the causeway)
  • Sunday 7, 14, 21 and 28 August, 9am, Junior parkrun, Rosehill Victoria Park
  • Wednesday 10 August, 9am to 6pm, Swim England Open Water Championships, Thrybergh Country Park
  • Saturday 13, 20 and 27 August, 9am, Rother Valley parkrun, Rother Valley Country Park - a 5K Run for beginners to experienced runners, all welcome. A free, fun, and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you. You need to register online before you first come along. Please register in advance to gain your free bar code on the parkrun website. Only register with parkrun once and don't forget to bring a scannable copy of your barcode (request a reminder). If you forget it, you won't get a time. Normal Parking charges for the park apply. There will be a projector and a screen in use for visuals if needed, and allow for video contributions from authors unable to appear physically.
