Skip day success in Kilnhurst

Skip day Kilnhurst

On Tuesday 2nd August, the Council's Housing and Neighbourhoods Teams joined forces for a community skip day.

This was an opportunity for tenants and residents of Kilnhurst to discard of any unwanted items in a community skip. The skip was filled with a range of items including furniture and mattresses.

A strong community in a clean and safe environment is one of the Ward priorities for the Kilnhurst and Swinton East Ward.

A number of actions are and will be taken around this. This includes holding a number of community skip days throughout the year, aswel as other measures including cleaning up the Swinton Canal and working with partners to resolve any anti-social behaviour issues in the area.

The skip was funded by the Housing Hub and Kilnhurst and Swinton East Ward budgets.

The Council's contractor Mears were on hand to help residents get large items into the skip.

Our vision for Rotherham is for every neighbourhood to be a thriving neighbourhood, where people are able to work together to achieve a good quality of life. We want to work with local people to find solutions to local issues and to build on our local heritage and assets.
