Teddy Bears Picnic at Pottery Ponds

The teddy bears picnic event

On Friday 5th August local residents enjoyed a teddy bears picnic with family, friends and their favourite teddy bear!

The picnic took place at Pottery Ponds in Swinton.

This was the first event of its kind at Pottery Ponds and it was a great success.

Find out more about the event by watching a video on the Council's Youtube channel at: https://youtu.be/GRgFjinown0

With thanks to funding from the Swinton Rockingham Ward budget, children enjoyed playing games including giant Connect 4, Jenga and spent hours hitting the striker in a bid to ring the bell. Children also took part in Football skills practice with Rotherham United Community Sports Trust.

Residents were treated to a rare opportunity to see inside the Waterloo Kiln where the world famous Rockingham Pottery was made and learn about its history with the Council's Museum Service.

South Yorkshire Police had a stall offering residents the chance to chat about any community concerns. Residents were able to pick up safety tips and some safety freebies. Children absolutely loved dressing up in Police uniform and sitting in the back of the police van.

The Council's Early Help Team were on hand to provide free face painting and updated families on some of their excellent work, which families can take part in.

Rotherfed were also in attendance, offering residents energy efficiency and money matters advice.

Working with you to help build communities that we can all take pride in is a priority for the Council.
