Come along to a local history fair

Local history fayre

Hosted by Aston-cum-Aughton History Group, this free annual event will include twenty history and heritage groups from North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

The groups in attendance will have merchandise, displays and information about their latest news and events.

The Mayor of Rotherham, Councillor Tajamal Khan will be visiting.

The Holderness Map will be on display, drawn in 1762 for the Earl of Holderness. It shows his estate in Aston and Wales. It measures 8ft 4in by 8ft 6in and illustrates the area before the enclosure of the fields and commons and before the present Aston Hall was built. It is kept in the Rotherham Archives and was last on display in October 2009. Come and see this important part of the area's heritage.

  • When: Saturday 1st October 2022
  • Time: 11am to 4pm
  • Where: Aston Parish Hall, Rosegarth Avenue, Aston, Sheffield, S26 2DB

Refreshments will be available and it's free admission to the event.
