Thundercliffe Grange opened its doors to the public on Sunday 18th September as part of English Heritage Open Days.

Thundercliffe Grange was involved in the scheme for the first time since the Covid pandemic.

In total, 14 guided tours of the house and grounds took place, involving around 180 people. This also included talks on important inhabitants. Nearly 100 visitors had the chance to see into one of the flats.

The weather was much better than forecast and most visitors took the opportunity to relax in the terrace room, or on the terrace itself, and the refreshments team did a roaring trade.

A very high percentage of visitors were either local people, or had local work or family ties. Everyone agreed that the event was a success.

Working with you to help build communities that we can all take pride in is a priority for the Council.
