Work starts on new projects in Dalton and Thrybergh Ward

Ridgeway stores

After months of planning, Ward Councillors in Dalton and Thrybergh are delighted to announce that work has begun on two new projects in East Herringthorpe.

Towns and Villages Fund improvements

The first project is the much-anticipated community garden and improvements to the area outside Ridgeway Stores.

This is possible thanks to the Rotherham Council's Towns and Villages Fund.

The Towns and Villages Fund is a £4 million commitment from Rotherham Council to deliver improvements to local towns and villages across the borough. Through the Towns and Villages Fund projects will be delivered across the borough, between now and 2024.

Other Towns and Villages Fund schemes have delivered, or will be delivering improved parking provision, resurfaced footpaths, improved shop frontages and tree planting.

As works to revitalise and improve Rotherham Town Centre progress, it is important that investment into local centres is also made.

Improving the play area and multi-use games area on Laudsdale Road

The multi use games area

The second project involves refurbishing and upgrading the children’s play area and multi-use games area on Laudsdale Road.

One of the ward priorities for Ward Councillors in Dalton and Thrybergh is to improve facilities and opportunities for people living in the ward, which includes the improvement of physical assets and equipment. Through community consultation and available funding, we identified the locations as areas in need of improvement; recognising the importance of providing safe and enjoyable spaces for residents to enjoy.

For both projects, work will continue over the coming weeks with care taken to minimise disruption for local residents.

Working with you to help build communities that we can all take pride in is a priority for the Council.
