Over £50,000 is available to support projects in the Wath Ward

Community Infrastructure Levy

Funding is now available from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for improvement projects in the Wath Ward.

What is the CIL?

The CIL is a charge Council’s can apply to new developments that can be used to fund the provision or improvement of local infrastructure (such as community space or parks); or anything else that is concerned with addressing the demands the development has placed on the area.

CIL can only be spent on ‘capital’ projects. These are physical items such as buildings or equipment.

What are the requirements?

Project ideas need to demonstrate how they fit in with the Ward priorities for Wath, as well as the demands that the development has placed on the area.

The Ward priorities for Wath are as follows:

  • Overarching priority: Supporting the community with covid recovery, and a commitment to share information, help and support specifically in relation to fuel poverty and the cost of living
  • Priority 1: Address crime and anti-social behaviour
  • Priority 2: Help maintain an attractive and welcoming environment
  • Priority 3: Improving and enhancing community facilities and green spaces, to ensure they are well-used and accessible to all
  • Priority 4: Explore opportunities to enhance Wath town centre

You can view the Ward priorities in full at: Wath ward – Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council

What ideas do we already have?

Ward Councillors have identified a number of projects that could be supported with the available funding. This could include delivering improvements to:

  • Wath Skate Park
  • Strathmore Park

How can I get involved?

Your Ward Councillors are looking to consider any ideas for how the funding can be used. We are encouraging local residents to share any ideas you have. The deadline for submitting your initial ideas is Tuesday 31st January 2023.

To find out more information and to share your ideas, please email: neighbourhoods@rotherham.gov.uk and title your email with ‘Wath’.
