Council inviting people to have their say on £8.9m plans for Wath

Rotherham Council is inviting people to review the latest plans and have their say on the £8.9m development of Wath town centre.

The plans include:

  • A new library and community facility
  • Improved connectivity between Biscay Way and the High Street
  • New commercial units
  • Improved public space

Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, Cllr Denise Lelliott said: “Our successful bid for Government money is enabling us to put forward exciting plans to improve Wath Town Centre.

“It’s essential that you tell us what you think about the proposed changes to community facilities and public spaces. These improvements will be good for the local economy and create new places for people to enjoy, but they need to be shaped by you.”

People can find out more and give your views on the plans at Wath Community Library from Noon until 7pm on Wednesday 11 October, or visit the online consultation between Monday 9th to Monday 23rd October at www.rotherham.gov.uk/consultations

Responses from the consultation will help to finalise the plans that will be presented to the Council Cabinet for approval.

The funding has been secured by Rotherham Council from the Government. The Grant totals £19,990,111. £8,940,564 of this money is allocated to the Wath improvements.
