Candidates announced in Kilnhurst & Swinton East ward by-election

Kilnhurst and Swinton East By Election 2023

A by-election will take place in Kilnhurst & Swinton East ward on Thursday 2 November 2023.

The candidates are:

  • Patricia Anita Collins, Local Conservatives
  • John Richard Gelder, Liberal Democrats
  • Nigel Harper, Labour Party
  • Peter Key, Yorkshire Party
  • Paul Neville Martin, Green Party
  • Adam Wood, Reform UK

Residents in the Kilnhurst and Swinton East ward have until 11:59pm on Tuesday 17 October 2023 to register to vote if they are not already on the electoral register.

The deadline for receiving new postal vote and postal proxy applications, and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes is the day after, at 5pm on Wednesday 18 October 2023. The deadline for applying to vote by proxy is at 5pm on Wednesday 25 October 2023.

Voters casting their ballots at polling stations will need to show acceptable photographic ID before they can vote.

The full list of approved identity documents can be found on the Rotherham Council website. The list includes driving licences and passports. Expired documents can be used, provided the photograph is still a good likeness. Residents without acceptable photographic ID can apply for a free Voter Authority Certificate. Further information about voter ID can be found on the Rotherham Council website.

The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate for this by-election is 5pm on Wednesday 25 October 2023.
