Last chance to respond to consultations

Consultation News Card

It’s the last chance for people to share their views by taking part in two Council public consultations that close next week.

The Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) that covers Rotherham Town Centre and Clifton Park, and the borough-wide order on dogs close on Monday 16 October.

Previous PSPOs that dealt with anti-social behaviour and dog fouling have now expired and responses and evidence to the current consultations will be considered when new orders are drawn up for Cabinet approval in the weeks ahead.

Cllr Saghir Alam, Cabinet member for Corporate Services, Community Safety and Finance, said “These orders are put in place to ensure that people feel safe in the town centre and our neighbourhoods are kept free of dog fouling. Public Space Protection Orders make it easier for the police and council officers to take action, so it’s essential people let us know what they think of our proposals.

“We want to hear people’s views about these important issues we are addressing and our proposals for how we should continue to tackle them.”

The public consultations are available on the Council website. The Council has also invited local parish councils, South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, community organisations, local businesses, ward councillors, and council officers to have their say.

Consultation findings will be submitted to Cabinet, who will make a final decision on what will be included in the renewed PSPOs.

Share your view on the proposals.
