Reclaim the Night returns to Rotherham

Reclaim the Night returns to Rotherham on Thursday 23 November 2023!

Residents from across Rotherham are being invited to walk through the town centre in a family-friendly event to celebrate the past, present and future of women’s empowerment.

This year’s theme is ‘A Safe Night Out’ and begins with a short walk through Rotherham Town Centre culminating in warming refreshments and inspirational speakers back at Ministry Pavilion. Everyone is welcome to attend, the venue is under cover however it is recommended that you dress warmly.

The walk will begin at 6pm, those wanting to join in on the walk will need to meet at The Ministry Pavilion (formerly Imperial Buildings), High Street, Rotherham. The event has been organised in partnership with Flux Rotherham and South Yorkshire Violence Reduction.

Cllr Emma Hoddinott, one of Reclaim the Night’s organisers, said: “Rotherham held its first Reclaim the Night in 2015 and every year since then, we have come together to talk about issues that women in our town face. Part of the event is to meet in the town centre and ‘reclaim the streets’ to highlight how they should be safe for all. I hope people will be able to join an inspiring and informative evening.”

Two hours free parking is available in the Red Zone in Drummond Street car park before 6pm and free parking is available after 6pm in all Council-owned car parks and on-street parking bays. Maximum stay limits will still apply.
