That’s the message of a powerful new fostering film – any of us have the potential to become foster carers and make a difference to the lives of young people.

Rotherham Council is supporting the film ‘Any of Us’ and hopes that this will inspire more local people to become foster carers.

The film looks at three different people who all show some of the attributes needed to be a foster carer in their daily lives – one person goes to the aid of a pedestrian after a minor road accident, another person calms down an aggressive situation in a snooker club, and a third character identifies a young person showing signs of distress and intervenes with them at school.

In their own way each of the three people show the caring instinct that is fundamental to being a foster carer.

As the film develops it becomes clear that one of these three people will become the foster carer to a young person named Chloe.

This new film follows a recent decision made by Cabinet to boost the fees and allowances for foster carers, as part of a bid to support new and existing foster carers.

Councillor Victoria Cusworth, Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: “Our foster carers do an incredible job providing love and care to some of the most vulnerable children and young people in Rotherham, helping to ensure they have the very best start in life.

“Most potential foster carers already have the skills needed and we hope this powerful film and its message will help inspire more people to consider becoming a coming a foster carer.

“I am really pleased that Cabinet colleagues recently increased the fees and allowances for foster carers. This will mean that further support can be provided for existing foster carers, as well as those who are currently in the fostering approval process.”

Join Rotherham’s community of foster carers who are helping to change the lives of Rotherham’s most vulnerable children. We are looking for people from all walks of life who can be foster carers.

Start your journey today. Visit the Fostering Rotherham website to find out more about becoming a Rotherham foster carer: www.fosteringrotherham.com or call 01709 357370.
