Referendum on Neighbourhood Plan for Maltby

Council News
Council News

A referendum will take place in Maltby on Thursday 8 February 2024.

This will determine whether residents want Rotherham Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Maltby to help Rotherham Council decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area.

The referendum will ask the following question: “Do you want Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Maltby to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?”

The Neighbourhood Plan area encompasses the whole of Maltby Town Council and covers the period up to 2028, a timescale which aligns to that of the Rotherham Local Plan.

A range of policies are set out in the Neighbourhood Plan around housing, heritage, shops, the town centre, community facilities, nature conservation and developer contributions.

A Neighbourhood Plan is a planning document that gives local people the opportunity to have their say on how their community develops and evolves.
