Have your say on Swinton’s new Library and Neighbourhood Hub

A Rotherham skyline with the word News on it.

Rotherham Council is inviting residents to have their say on plans for a new library and neighbourhood hub in Swinton at a series of drop-in sessions.

The plans are part of the redevelopment of Swinton Town Centre.

The works will develop a new library and neighbourhood hub, creating a community focused space for families and community groups to come together in a safe, modern environment.

Plans include mobile shelving to allow for flexible meeting spaces, activities and events space and an outdoor reading area.

Local residents and interested parties are invited to view plans of the new library, give feedback and ask questions at drop-in events to be held at Swinton Civic Hall.

Anyone wishing to have their say can do so on the following dates:

  • Monday 4 March - 4pm until 6pm
  • Thursday 7 March 1pm until 4pm
  • Friday 8 March 10am until 12pm

For people unable to make the staffed sessions, the plans will also be displayed at Swinton Civic Hall, where people will be able to complete a feedback form from Monday 4 March until Monday 11 March:

  • Monday - 9am until 6pm
  • Tuesday to Friday – 9am until 5pm
  • Saturday - 9am until 1pm

Cllr Denise Lelliott, Cabinet Member for Jobs and the Local Economy, said: “It’s essential people help to shape their new library and neighbourhood hub. We want to listen to residents and understand how best we can make this new and improved space work for them.”

The Library is currently located at Swinton Civic Hall and will move to the refurbished former customer service centre later this year.
