There are Council car parks and on-street parking locations throughout the borough.

Car parking charges

Car parking charges apply 24/7 at Clifton Park, Thrybergh Country Park, Ulley Country Park, and Rother Valley Country Park.

Visitors to Forge Island can park for free when visiting Arc Cinema and Travelodge Rotherham Central (see below for full details).

Charges apply between Monday and Friday 8am and 6pm in all other Council car parks, except Wellgate Multi-Storey where charges apply form 7am until 7pm.

When is parking free?

Forge Island car park - Travelodge guests and cinema vistors

Forge Island visitors can park for free for up to 30 minutes to allow for cinema drop-offs.

Cinema visitors can park for free for three-and-a-half hours. To obtain your free parking, please request a concession ticket QR code from the cinema staff when you show or buy your cinema ticket. This can then be scanned at the Forge Island car park paypoint following your visit.

Travelodge Rotherham Central guests can park for free after 4pm on the day of arrival until 10am on the day of departure.

Rotherham Town Centre - Free parking Saturdays

Free parking is available on Saturdays in Council-owned off-street car parks in Rotherham town centre, no ticket required. The normal maximum duration time allowed still applies and is displayed in the brackets below.

Forge Island is not included in the free Saturday parking but Forge Island visitors can park for free when visiting Arc Cinema and Travelodge Rotherham Central.

  • Clifton Hall (all day max stay)
  • Douglas Street (max stay 2 hours)
  • Drummond Street (all day max stay)
  • Riverside, Corporation Street (max stay 4 hours)
  • Scala, Corporation Street (max stay 4 hours)
  • The Statutes (all day max stay)
  • Unity Place (max stay 4 hours)
  • Wellgate multi-storey (all day)
  • Wellgate North (max stay 1 hour)
  • Westgate (all day max stay)
  • York Road (all day max stay)

​​​Across the borough - Bank holidays and Sundays

Parking is free in most Council owned off-street car parks and on-street parking bays across the borough on Bank Holidays and every Sunday.

Charges still apply on Bank Holidays and every Sunday for visitors to:

  • Clifton Park
  • Thrybergh County Park
  • Ulley Country Park
  • Rother Valley Country Park.

Visitors to Forge Island can park for free when visiting Arc Cinema and Travelodge Rotherham Central, and for drop-offs.
