Session summary
Delivering physical activity is a NovaCity speciality. Our urban activities is designed with movement in mind.
The structured activities that will be available are Parkour, Dance, Tricks and flips, games and crafts . There will also be some free play opportunities to allow the young people to just run and play. Our group games are also often physical. Our holiday club offer is based around this principle with at least 3 hours out of 4 available for physical activity of some kind. Our instructors will deliver taster sessions in all NovaCity’s activities and young people will learn more, the
more they attend. The young people will work in groups but also can work alone, which we find is very important for confidence. What tends to happen is friendships form out of unity towards tackling a task or challenge. These challenges are very individual based but allow for sharing. We are confident that all abilities and ages will be catered for as we run weekly sessions as our regular activity base. Important factors with our physical activity are
confidence building and creativity. Trying something new is difficult and should be accessible. No equipment is required, just some good comfortable trainers and comfy clothes. We are aiming to break down barriers to participation. Being physically active when young contribute to a healthier lifestyle. Allowing young people to be creative and explore different kinds of movements can be a gateway to other activities or taking up the activity as part of their regular day-to-day lives. NovaCity exists to encourage this.
