Information on Private Housing
Advice and information on all housing not owned by the Council including private rented and owner-occupied properties. Through our work we hope to ensure that all housing within the private sector is in a good state of repair, is decent, and is safe for the occupants to live in.
We would also like to improve access to decent affordable housing and are working to encourage the owners of empty properties to bring these much-needed homes back into occupation.
What can we do for you
- Enforce standards in privately rented properties to ensure that properties are safe and healthy
- Licence and inspect Houses of multiple occupation (HMOs)
- Provide information to landlords and tenants
- Offer support to vulnerable owner-occupiers who need assistance to live independently
Provide help and assistance to homeowners who want to return their empty properties to residential use.
