Brampton Bierlow Diversion
A retaining wall has collapsed on Packman Road between Brampton Road and Packman Way. Essential safety work has been completed and reconstruction will begin in September. We have considered various construction arrangements to minimise disruption to both traffic flow and local residents and will continue to monitor throughout the works.
The works are estimated to last for approximately 20 weeks. However, this will be dependent on favourable weather conditions and the availability of materials which are in short supply at the current time. We will provide period updates on progress throughout.
We will be implementing a one-way traffic system from the 16 September which will allow traffic to flow in the northbound direction along Packman Road, meaning that the road will be closed in the southbound direction from Brampton Road to Packman Way. A sign posted diversion will be provided for vehicles travelling southbound. See diversion below.
In order to ensure that the new wall ties into the existing, a concrete brick design will be used to mimic the traditional look of the previous and adjoining stone wall. The use of this material in the reconstruction will allow us to include new foundations and a drainage system.
Please be assured that all efforts will be made to minimise disruption during this period. We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we carry out these necessary improvements.
