Moving from Infant to Junior School 2027
If your child was born between 1 September 2019 and 31 August 2020 and currently attends Year 2 at a separate Infant School, you need to apply for a Junior School place for admission in September 2027.

Important information for non-Rotherham residents
If you do not live in Rotherham, you must apply through your home local authority.
You can still include Rotherham Junior Schools as preferences on your application, but applications submitted directly to Rotherham Council by residents of another authority will not be considered.

- National Offer Day: 16 April 2027
Before you apply
- Read Section 11 of the Primary Admissions Booklet 2027.
- Check the admission arrangements for any schools you are considering.
- List your preferred schools in order of preference.
- Make sure you submit your application before the closing date.
- Remember that applying for only one school does not increase your chances of securing a place at that school.
Who should use this application process?
This application process should only be used if:
- Your child attends Year 2 at a separate Infant School.
- You are applying for a Year 3 place at a separate Junior School for admission in September 2027.
Applying for a Primary School or Junior and Infant School
Applications for admission to Year 3 at a Primary School or Junior and Infant School will not be considered through this process.
If you wish to apply for a Primary School or Junior and Infant School for Year 3, you should submit an In-Year Application after 1 May 2027.
If your child currently attends a separate Infant School, you are advised to apply for a Junior School place through the normal admissions process in the meantime.
Submitting your application
- Apply online through the Parent Portal.
- If you have not used the Portal before, you will need to register for an account.
- If you registered for a previous version of the Portal, you will need to create a new account.
- Make sure you submit your application when it is complete.
- You can view or amend your application until 15 January 2027.
Any changes made after the closing date will be treated as a late application.
After you apply
All Rotherham residents who submit an application by 15 January 2027 will receive a school offer on 16 April 2027.
You will be offered the highest-ranked school on your application for which your child qualifies.
If none of your preferred schools can be offered, an alternative school place may be allocated where appropriate.
No admissions decisions will be released before 16 April 2027.
