Surrender a vehicle to the council

If you have a vehicle you no longer want, you can ask the Council to remove and scrap it for you. This is called a 'voluntary surrender'.

There is no charge for using this service. Vehicles you can surrender to us include cars, motorbikes and small vans.

You must give us your permission to dispose of the vehicle. You must also provide:

  • The full, intact vehicle log book, with sections 8 and 9 completed at the time of collection
  • Photo ID for you
  • Keys to the vehicle

The vehicle will normally be removed within five working days. The vehicle will remain the owner's responsibility until it is removed.
