Planning and construction

Who is responsible for the Whiston Brook FAS?

The Council is working with a range of organisations to deliver the Whiston Brook FAS including the Environment Agency and Yorkshire Water.

We're the primary scheme promoter for the proposed scheme.

When will the Whiston Brook FAS be completed/progressed?

Submission of the application for the proposed Whiston Brook FAS has been scheduled for December 2024.

A decision on the planning application is expected during early 2025. If planning permission is granted, construction of the proposed scheme is due to start in late 2025.

Are all the sites included in the same planning proposal?

All sites that form part of Whiston Brook FAS are proposed to be submitted within the same planning application to the Council.

When will construction work be carried out?

If planning permission is secured in early 2025, construction is proposed to start in late 2025 and would take approximately 18 months to complete.

Will all proposed sites be constructed at once?

The main scheme and additional interventions that form Whiston Brook FAS are proposed to be built at the same time. The programme for construction will be published in a Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) following the planning application.

The Council will work with the local community to reduce the impact of construction on the local area by looking at appropriate construction working times.
