Gritting

Gritting involves an overnight grit of 388 miles of the boroughs busiest road network (often more than once each night). Each round takes around three hours for each of our ten gritters to complete.

On street grit bins have been monitored and topped up where necessary to help volunteers grit the local community.

Bin collections

Bins collections were suspended today (Friday 10 March 2023) due to road conditions.

Teams will work to recover some of the backlog of missed bins collections tomorrow (Saturday 11 March) but this may not be completed until well into next week.

Please leave your bin by the kerbside and we will collect it as soon as possible. We’re sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your patience.
