Child Performance Exemption

You may apply for an Exemption if:

  • The child/children have performed on fewer than 5 days (including this performance) within last six months.
  • The child/children will not require any absence from school
  • The child/children are not being paid; or the production company and the parent/carer are not being paid for the child to perform.

NOTE   It is a legal requirement to apply for a licence when one is required and any person who causes or procures any child to do anything in contravention of the licensing requirement commits an offence and may be subject to a fine, imprisonment or both.

If a producer is relying on the four day rule as basis for not applying for a licence, they should have reasonable grounds for believing the child is eligible.
