How to provide your proofs to us
Sending your proofs
You can upload and send us electronic copies of your documentation when you make your application online.
You can take a photo of your documents on a smart phone or tablet. Or you could use a scanner or digital camera linked to a computer.
You can upload files in any of the following formats:
- PDF (.pdf)
- Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
- Scanned images and photos
- JPEG (.jpeg or .jpg)
- PNG (.png)
- GIF (.gif)
- Bitmap (.bmp)
You can download apps to your mobile device to help you scan your documents.
Time limits for providing proofs
We must receive all the information we need from you - including for your partner and other household members - within one month of your application.
If we don't receive your proofs within a month, it may delay your benefit claim or change in circumstances being assessed. You may also lose entitlement to benefit.
If you don't have all your proofs
You don't have to provide all the proofs we will need at the same time as you make your claim. But please provide as much as you can so we can start to work out your entitlement.
You have up to one month to send us anything that you can't provide when you make your claim. We will also contact you if we have any questions, or if we need you to provide anything else.
Problems uploading your proofs
