A notice can be given to obtain a Certificate of No Impediment for marrying/ forming a civil partnership abroad in some countries.

Every country has different validity requirements, it is your responsibility to check the legal requirements with the country in which you are planning to have your legal ceremony in.
Not all countries undertake Civil Partnerships. Please ensure you check the information on gov.uk before proceeding with your notice booking.

What information you need to give notice
First you need to ensure that that the country is one which we can issue a certificate of no impediment.
You need to ensure that the venue for marriage to be recorded in space 7 of the Certificate of No Impediment is that which is accepted by the country in which your ceremony is intended to take place. It is your responsibility to get this information and ensure it is recorded correctly. Once the Certificate of No Impediment is issued, no change can be made to the place of marriage information. Where this is incorrect, you must start the process again and pay the statutory fees again.
